SPECIFIC FRD Weight Reduction is a complete, balanced veterinary dry diet for cats with a low energy density and a high content of soluble and insoluble fibre, formulated to support safe and effective weight loss while helping to manage related conditions. Indicated for obesity, diabetes mellitus, colitis, chronic diarrhoea, constipation, hyperlipidaemia and cholestasis. Not recommended for young kittens or pregnant or lactating queens with a high energy need. Use under veterinary supervision.
  • Low energy density (1274 kJ/100g) allows a generous amount to be fed, supporting satiety during weight reduction
  • Urine pH of 6.0-6.4 supports a healthy urinary tract
  • Omega-3 fatty acids support healthy skin and coat, and can help maintain normal joint mobility in obese cats
  • Complex carbohydrates and high fibre content promote a gradual release of glucose, suitable for cats with diabetes mellitus
  • Relatively high protein content supports maintenance of muscle and satiation of appetite during weight reduction
  • L-carnitine transports fatty acids into the mitochondria and stimulates oxidation of fat and preservation of muscle
  • Increased soluble and insoluble fibre content supports gastrointestinal motility and a healthy gastrointestinal tract

During a weight reduction period, it is recommended to feed only 65% of the advised quantity of SPECIFIC FRW Weight Reduction for normal cats. If the cat does not lose weight, it may be necessary to further reduce the daily intake. In obese cats, fasting or too accelerated weight reduction should be avoided as this may cause hepatic lipidosis. Daily individual requirements may vary depending on breed, environment, season and activity, so it is advisable to continue monitoring condition and body weight and adjust the amount fed accordingly.
