To start the transition, introduce the new food as a low proportion of their old – we recommend a 25% new food to 75% old food ratio – and gradually increase the new-to-old ratio over ~7 days until your cat has completely transitioned to the new food. Monitor behaviour and food consumption during the transition.
Suggested schedule:
• Days 1–3: 25% new food / 75% old food
• Days 4–5: 50% new food / 50% old food
• Days 6–7: 75% new food / 25% old food
• Day 8+: 100% new food if tolerated well
